Job Description General Responsibilities
1. Support Day Camp staff
2. Work with Program Director in development of Day Camp program

5. Assist other staff in providing for ALL campers’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
6. Strive to build self-esteem, self-efficacy, and self-value in each camper and staff member
7. Be responsible for the stewardship of all camp/ church facilities and equipment
8. Represent the camp and its purpose in a positive manner when you are in public
9. Possess an attitude and actions which continually reflect that Christ lives within you and that you view your position as an opportunity to be in His service
10. Promote an atmosphere of Christian cooperation among the campers and among fellow staff members

Specific Responsibilities

1. Day Camp
a. Be the liaison to Day Camp Staff at each site and oversee the effective program execution of Day Camp
b. Prepare materials for Day Camp Teams
c. Work with Program Director to develop curriculum, arts and crafts, schedules, and materials
d. Refer discipline problems (camper and staff) to Program Director when necessary
e. Keep track of money from canteen and gas
f. Travel to Day Camps

2. Arts and Crafts
a. Lead arts and crafts
b. Assist in developing age appropriate crafts for each week
c. Keep track of inventory for Day Camp supplies and inform the Program Director when more are needed

3. Other
a. Assist in other program or support duties as assigned
b. Attend daily and weekly staff meetings
c. Take time each day to fill your spiritual needs
d. Make sure YOU and the other staff members are practicing good hygiene, sleeping habits, and eating habits while at camp
e. Be on call to serve as a counselor with all the responsibilities of that position, if need be

Qualifications Required Qualifications
1. Preferred age – 21 years old
2. Dedicated Christian who is willing to share their faith in Christ with others
3. Desire and ability to work with children and other staff outdoors
4. Have a good background in outdoor ministry
5. Possess strong leadership qualities

Specific Responsibilities
A. Directly responsible for the needs and actions of the 8-10 campers placed in your care each week (this includes typical on-site campers, specialty campers, and off-site day camp campers), especially in the following five areas:

1. Spiritual Needs: To identify and meet the spiritual needs of ALL campers
a. Daily leadership of Bible Study for the cabin group
b. Plan and lead a daily bedtime devotional for the cabin group
c. Assist with the planning and leading of worship and campfire including skits and music
d. Promote an atmosphere of Christian cooperation among the campers and among fellow staff members
e. Be a positive Christian influence at all times and be Christ’s witness in all your ways and works

2. Physical Needs: To identify and meet the physical needs of ALL campers by being responsible for his/her health, cleanliness, and safety
a. Guard campers from dangerous activities or circumstances
b. Make sure YOU and your campers are practicing good hygiene, sleeping habits, and eating habits while at camp

3. Emotional Needs: identify and meet the emotional needs of ALL campers
a. Get to know and understand each camper as quickly and as well as possible
b. Treat ALL campers fairly and show loving concern for all aspects of their welfare
c. Strive to build self-esteem and self-value in each camper
d. Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems/concerns
e. Teach your cabin group to live as a group and be aware of each other’s needs

4. Program/ Activities
a. Be involved/participate in all camp activities, whether leading it or not
b. Lead activities such as games, mealtime, singing, and worship or campfire aspects as assigned by the Team Leaders
c. Supervise all aspects of the campers’ day, including cabin clean-up, quiet time, evening activities, meal times, cabin activities and getting ready for bed

5. Camper Discipline
a. Understand, follow, and enforce all camp policies and standards
b. Make sure that your campers are behaving in an appropriate manner during all activities, including large group activities
c. Encourage respect for the property of others and for the camp’s facilities and equipment
d. When necessary refer discipline problems to the Team Leaders

B. Other Specific Responsibilities
1. Assist in registration of the campers and weekly clean-up assignments
2. Maintain good public relations with the parents and campers

f. When necessary refer discipline problems (camper and staff) to Program Director
g. Be in communication with the Program Director about the performance (praises and concerns) of fellow Lutherwood members
h. Assist in assigning campers to cabins as well as handing out mail and email

3. Program: shared responsibilities with the other team leader
a. Be responsible for the daily schedule and the organization of daily activities, campfires and special activities, Examples: all camp game, choose your own adventure, cabin fairy
b. Take charge of all meals: meal order, KP duty, Grace, and announcements
c. Assist in the planning and leading of worship and campfires making sure that summer staff is involved in the execution
d. Lead other activities as needed including but not limited to: hikes, ropes, archery…
e. Organize campouts making sure counselors and campers have everything they need to be successful
f. Consult with resource person on how they wish to be incorporated into the week and plan for their involvement

4. Other

Job Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Custodian / Maintenance, under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, cleans, sanitizes, removes garbage and stocks supplies for Club facilities to include the Alder Showers, the Dogwood and Birch restrooms, the Main Hall restrooms, the Main Hall showers, the Pool, the Main Hall & Kitchen, the Maintenance Shop and the Office .

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
The Custodian / Maintenance position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, or in his absence to the Administration Officer. When working with the Maintenance Department on a project will take direction from the Maintenance Supervisor as lead. Will also follow direction from the Administration Officer on an as needed basis.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Custodian / Maintenance Person is responsible for performance of scheduled janitorial duties, such tasks will include the following:
• Cleaning, sanitizing, removing waste from and restocking supplies at the Alder Shower, the Main Hall restrooms, The Main Hall & Kitchen, the Maintenance Shop and the Office.
• Picking up debris around the park and especially in the area around the Main Hall /Pool and the Garbage Area.
• Posting notices on the notice boards and removing out of date notices.
• All duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Be able to run all aspects of gardening machines, including weed blowers, mowers, weed eaters, blowing machines, tractors, road sweeping machines, snow plowing machines, truck trailers and automobiles.
• Be able to lift 75 pounds, bend and stoop, squat, climb ladders, enter small excavations to work on sewer connections, able to paint, and meet all safety aspects of the job and duties.

Additionally, the Custodian may undertake projects assigned by the Administration Officer.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The Club expects the Custodian / Maintenance:
• To take pride in the appearance of the campground and to proactively take the steps necessary to keep the area looking presentable.
• To plan for and efficiently undertake scheduled tasks without oversight.
• To recognize dangerous conditions and to do what’s necessary to mitigate them.
• To recognize problems and to correct them or, if not easily or inexpensively resolved, to notify the Maintenance Supervisor or Administration Officer and propose solutions for their remediation.
• To always think safety, to work safely so as to avoid injury and to make sure that the campground is a safe place for the members and their guests.
• To have the situational presence of mind to act during an emergency and the common sense to understand what is or is not an emergency.
• To behave with proper decorum at all times when dealing with members and guests or other employees.
• To be at work at the scheduled times and days or to notify the Maintenance Supervisor or Administration Office when that is not possible.
• To complete all assigned paperwork on a timely basis

When working with the Maintenance / Mechanic on a project will take direction from the Maintenance / Mechanic as lead, however, this is not a supervisory relationship.

The Custodian / Pool Monitor is responsible for performance of scheduled janitorial duties, to the established standards, as listed in the Operations and Maintenance Manual. Broadly, such tasks will include the following:
• Cleaning, sanitizing, removing waste from and restocking supplies at the Alder Shower, the Dogwood and Birch restrooms, the Main Hall restrooms, the Main Hall Showers, The Main Hall & Kitchen, the Maintenance Shop and the Office.
• Picking up debris around the park and especially in the area around the Main Hall /Pool and the Garbage Area.
• Posting notices on the notice boards and removing out of date notices.

Further, the Custodian / Pool Monitor is responsible for ensuring that members and their guests sign in and out when using the pool and that Club Pool Rules and Whatcom County Ordinances relating to swimming pools are obeyed by the people using the pool.
Additionally, the Custodian / Pool Monitor will undertake projects assigned by the Administration Officer or Maintenance Supervisor.
