The Whatcom County Health Department is seeking a temporary Volunteer Program Coordinator.

This position will organize, coordinate and facilitate their Volunteer Program for the COVID-19 outbreak; a program primarily focused on case tracking and investigation.

Essential Job Duties include:

Organizes, coordinates and facilitates the Volunteer Program for the COVID-19 outbreak with a primary focus on case tracking and investigation. Recruits, provides, and coordinates initial and ongoing training, as well as professional staff support for volunteers in the volunteer program.

Assists, consults, and coaches volunteers as needed or requested. Regularly contacts volunteers to coordinate trainings and assignments to support on-going strategies related to Health Department’s COVID-19 response needs. Assists volunteers with the resolution of problems, issues, and situations.

Collects and reports data on volunteer hours, contacts, and other information required to efficiently administer the volunteer program. Maintains volunteer files.

Maintains and updates volunteer program training materials as needed.

Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations to facilitate the recruitment of volunteers and to promote community awareness of the volunteer program.

Prioritizes and plans work activities using resources effectively. Plans for additional resources and integrates changes smoothly and in a timely manner.

Supervisor: Assistant Director

This position will be assigned to work full time for approximately 3 months, followed by 69 hours/month. Hours will vary. Duration of the assignment is dependent on the COVID-19 pandemic and the response required to address community needs.

Minimum of two years of supervisory and/or coordination of volunteers.
