Hiring Salary: $25.66 – $27.70, DOQ Closing Date: September 16, 2019 at 4:30 PM
Full Salary Range: $25.66 – $37.01 per hour
District Court Probation has an opening for the position of Probation Officer I.
Performs a variety of professional caseload activities for defendants referred to District Court Probation. Develops probation agreements in accordance with court orders. Monitors defendants’ compliance with court orders, and provides other services as alternatives to incarceration. Refers defendants to programs as required by the court, and other programs as appropriate to their situation or needs. Works under minimal supervision exercising independent judgment in analyzing problems, issues and situations. Develops and implements recommendations. Complies with legal standards and requirements.
Performs caseload activities such as client appointments, communication with treatment providers, community based organizations, law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies. Prepares and presents concise written and/or oral reports to the court regarding a defendant’s compliance with court orders, including probation violation recommendations, with supporting documentation. Collects and assesses information as requested by the court for bail/release investigations, indigent reviews, and pre- and post-sentence investigations. Performs caseload audits as requested.
Bachelor’s degree in social science, criminology, psychology or a related field
2 years of progressively responsible experience in the criminal justice system or with counseling programs.
Education and experience working in the areas of substance abuse disorders, domestic violence, and mental health strongly preferred.
Experience with case management, interviewing and working with community treatment agencies preferred.
Spanish fluency desired.
Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire and throughout employment.
Required to have own transportation, with reimbursement for mileage.
Background check must meet County criteria for criminal justice positions.
