The opportunity: The Skagit Valley College (SVC) Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP) is accepting applications for an Early Childhood Program Specialist 1, Classroom Aid position, based in Anacortes, Washington. The Classroom Aide promotes an inclusive classroom environment, working with diverse student populations and will assist the ECEAP staff with daily classroom routines in accordance with ECEAP Performance Standards and Skagit Valley College Head Start and ECEAP Policies and Procedures. Duties may include classroom preparation, organizing materials, assisting with meal service and interaction with children during activities. This position will report to the ECEAP Associate Director.

This is a benefits-eligible, classified, 9.5-month, position, working 100% of full-time, which is 40 hours per week. The incumbent will work Monday through Friday on a 9.5-month cyclic schedule that typically works from September through mid-December, and January through the end of June each year, and will be on leave without pay during non-working periods. The exact schedule is provided annually.

Overview:
• Assist with set-up, clean-up, sanitation and presentation of classroom;
• Organize materials needed for classroom activities;
• Assist in serving and cleaning up;
• Assist with child guidance;
• Assist and supervise children during free time, meal time, field trips, and transition periods;
• Assist kitchen staff to prepare, deliver and retrieve food carts;
• Cleans up after meals, utilizing proper dishwashing methods to assure sanitation.
