The Company: Bellingham Marine is the industry leader in the design and construction of floating marinas and associated marine structures. The Position: Support the engineering and design of marina/dock construction projects by preparing clear, complete and accurate plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches/notes. Assist with evaluation and tracking of contracts and bid specifications, including organization of documents. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the engineering department and requires coordination with other drafting departments in the manufacturing divisions of BMI. Successful candidate will be required to complete a satisfactory administrative background screen as part of the onboarding process.
The Location: We’re located in beautiful Bellingham, WA, with easy access to the natural wonders of the Salish Sea as well as the Cascade Mountains and the numerous rivers. From sailing or sea kayaking to skiing, snowboarding or mountain biking, there are endless outdoor activities within easy reach. Bellingham is located between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. and hosts Western Washington University as well as many entrepreneurial start-ups. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Work as part of a team to prepare construction and fabrication drawings in accordance with company standards.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Engineers, other Designers, and Project Managers to resolve design issues, develop fabrication methods, and issue construction documents.
• Read and interpret contract drawings and specifications to determine project requirements and to establish where potential conflicts may adversely impact the project.
• Perform standardized calculations under direction from the Engineering group.
• Complete drawing/project responsibilities within scope, budget and schedule; review drawings for completeness and accuracy.
• Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to improve the design and construction process.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and drafting experience. Certification in AutoCAD.
