Job Description Company Mission:
Northwest Youth Services collaborates with at-risk, runaway and homeless youth to foster self-reliance.This position contributes to NWYS’s success by engaging in trusting adult relationships with youth after hours. It provides overnight and weekend emergency after-hour support, monitoring, and on-call availability to TL participants.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
70 percent youth contact:
o Must be available between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00am Thursday-Monday, all day and night on the weekends;
o Perform a minimum of three to four random apartment checks (includes checking all rooms, bathrooms and balcony) per week to observe for any program/complex violations or other concerns, and provide support services as needed for emergency after hours calls;
o Communicate apartment cleanliness standards to clients and report back to the housing team via emailed site logs;
o Check fire alarms are to code and working properly monthly;
o Respond to calls from or about TLP participants and provide urgent on-site response, contacting emergency responders when and if necessary;
o Submit after hours site logs to the Case Managers following the site visit including any notable contacts, concerns, incidents, or support services provided by the next business day;
o Notify assigned after hours TL staff immediately of any emergencies, as noted in the Site Monitor Guidelines;
o Must follow any client safety or supervisions plans as indicated;
o Be able to utilize de-escalation skills;
o Must set appropriate limits and boundaries with participants. As well as be able to establish rapport and be available for problem solving;
o Must be able to read, understand, and follow NWYS/TL policies and procedures;
o Must complete accurate and timely documentation as required;
o Must meet training requirements: AIDS/HIV, CPR/First Aid, Orientation and other training as assigned or appropriate;
o A cell phone will be provided for TL related calls only, and is to be kept charged and on during the times of scheduled and random drop by services, and emergencies.

30 percent documentation support:
o Provide accurate, complete, and timely data, and reports to Housing Programs Supervisor as needed;
o Record data for program outcomes;
o Document all client, provider, and family contacts and information;
o Ensure client confidentiality according to NWYS policies and procedures;
o Keep the Program Manager informed of issues and concerns related to clients;
o Participate in program evaluation efforts;
o Knowledge of program policies and procedures;
o Show up to meetings on time and prepared;
o Follow through with commitments; make arrangements to re-negotiate as needed long before due dates if
applicable;
o Have a positive attitude about youth in general and NWYS clients in particular;
o Submit daily timesheet by the 24th of each month;
o Submit mileage reimbursement by the 5th of the following month (if applicable). Mileage is not reimbursed for
regular site monitor duties.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
o A passion for Northwest Youth Services mission to collaborate with youth to foster self-reliance, a belief in the
capacity for a young person to change;
o High school diploma or GED and one year experience working with youth;
o Must be 21 years of age or older;
o Knowledgeable on issues facing homeless youth;
o Ability to apply de-escalation and crisis intervention skills as necessary;
o Ability to be sensitive and responsive to diversity;
o Conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change;
o Ability to perform in home visits, establish boundaries while respectfully engaging with youth in a trauma
informed manner;
o Strong organizational skills;
o Ability to work independently and in partnership with team members;
o Must be honest;
o Ability to set limits and maintain the helping role of practitioner and to intervene appropriately to meet the
needs of persons served;
o Ability to communicate effectively with youth, co-workers, volunteers, and supervisor; and
o Seeks to improve knowledge, skills, and abilities in related service areas.
o Proof of Washington State Driver’s License, driving record, and auto insurance;
o CPR/First Aid/ blood borne pathogens certifications required;
o Must have a negative TB test;
o Full understanding of the CPS reporting requirements; and
o Must pass background checks.Preferred Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in Social work or related field;
o A minimum of three years’ working with young people;
o A minimum of one year experience working with homeless or vulnerable populations;
o Bilingual;
o Proven ability to apply theories of the Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, and Trauma Informed
approaches.
