Catholic Community Services, Homeless Adult Services (HAS) is the largest provider of adult homeless services in Tacoma, Washington.  Nativity House (NH), a program of HAS, is the central hub to serve homeless adults in the Pierce County region.  It operates 24-hours/7-days a week, offering services (emergency shelter, meals, systematic outreach, Rapid rehousing, Mental Health and Co-Occurring Disorder treatment, Employment Services, Spiritual Support, 50 units of permanent supportive housing, etc.) to meet the basic needs of individuals experiencing chronic homelessness guest with meeting their goals.

Position Description:

The Pastoral Services Coordinator is in charge of volunteer ministerial recruitment and trainings, organizing service and ministry schedules, and facilitating volunteer group reflections and debriefings.

  • Services:  The Pastoral Services Coordinator will be in charge of organizing services at the new Nativity House Chapel and coordinating ministers to lead these times of worship and refection for a unified body of guest, volunteers, and staff.
  • Reports:  Provide regular reports to the SW Agency Director and Program Directors.
  • System-wide collaboration
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor degree in religious studies, psychology, or a related field.
  • Graduate of a clinical pastoral education program.
  • 1 year of experience with individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Detail oriented and can perform organizational duties with a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage and educate.
  • Demonstrate quality communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to support and maintain an environment that honors cultural awareness and competency.
  • Ability to support the missions set forth by each program and their parent organizations CCS/CHS as well as the mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Willingness to learn and work well in a team environment.
  • Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills, to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
  • Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.


  • Masters in Divinity degree from a Christian based seminary or divinity school.
  • 3–5 years’ experience with individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Knowledge and experience in Christian ecumenical settings.
  • Experience with preaching and public speaking.

Experience organizing schedules.

Compensation $15.92 – 17.62 HR/DOE
