Job Description JOB SUMMARY:
Shoreline is a comprehensive community college offering excellent academic, professional/technical and work force training programs to meet the lifelong learning needs of its global community. Located on 83 acres just 10 miles north of downtown Seattle, Shoreline is situated among native evergreens with a campus full of brilliant colors during spring, summer and fall seasons.
Shoreline Community College is home to seven athletic teams and is part of the Northern Region of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC). Shoreline Community College’s Athletic Facilities include the main gym and a soccer field with a track. The gym offers basketball courts, a weight room, and locker facilities for use by students, faculty and staff. The gym is also home to the Physical Education department, as well as intramural and recreational activities. The Recreation & Athletics Specialist 2 reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for the supervision of the Athletics’ Issue Room, and oversight of Physical Education, Athletics and Intramural equipment and facilities. This position will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration committed to furthering the College’s vision, mission, core themes and strategic plan. Primary Responsibilities include:
 Lead, train and coordinate employees in athletic home contests, and physical education classroom support programs
 Supervise, hire, process hiring paperwork, train, assign and check the work of student hourly, non-student hourly, volunteers, and other staff in Athletic Game Management & Physical Education facilities and other class room support
 Direct and develop athletic social media, athletic website and promotional campaigns in conjunction with the Communications and Marketing Department
 Responsible for athletic teams’ game management, which includes stat reporting to NWAC, accounting for gate receipts, and managing game staff
 Work with the City of Seattle, City of Shoreline, City of Bellevue and other vendors to ensure facility rentals, schedules and plans for athletic game contests
 Foster a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competence
 Interact effectively with diverse/multicultural populations
 Prepare reports for facility usage when necessary, equipment purchases, budgeting (when needed), facility improvements, and inventory reports
 Assist the Athletic Director in budgeting student/hourly employees and game management
 Develop and administer policies and procedures for purchased equipment and athletic gear
 Supervise all inventory control to include tracking, issuance, retrieval and administering hold when not in compliance with policies
 Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Required Education & Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree involving major study in either (a) recreation or therapeutic recreation, (b) music, drama, or physical education or (c) psychology, sociology, or education with a minor in recreation, physical education, music or drama AND one (1) year of paid, professional recreation experience OR
 One (1) year of experience as a Recreation and Athletic Specialist 1 OR
 Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all required qualifications
Preferred Experience:
 Two (2) years of game management experience

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Licensing Requirements:
 Valid First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon offer of employment
 Valid Washington State Driver’s license; clean driving record (maximum of one [1] moving violation in the last twelve [12] months, no suspension/revocation of license for reckless driving, hit and run, leaving an accident scene, failure to appear, DUI, or other vehicle-related felony in the last five [5] years)
Physical Work Environment:
 Ability to meet the physical demands of sitting for prolonged periods of time at a desk/computer workstation, using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements
 Ability to work in an open office setting with frequent in-person interaction and numerous interruptions, work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands is essential
 Ability to read printed materials as well as a computer screen
 Ability to communicate both in person and through other appropriate means

Compensation

$2,925.00 – $3,807.00 Monthly

$35,100.00 – $45,684.00 Annually

Days/Hours 40 hours per week, with schedule dependent upon department needs
